First, let me introduce myself. My name is Julia Wooster and I’m in the “other London”, London, Ontario Canada.
I’m originally from just outside of Moncton, New Brunswick and when I was 20 I got on a train and moved to Ontario – as cliché as that sounds – yes, another East Coaster hitting the big city of Toronto.
And I loved Toronto but it started to collapse under its own weight. The subway service started turning to crap, so we started driving to work. Then we decided if we were driving everywhere, why live a block from the subway?
So we moved to Oakville and began a 16 year “sentence”. A lot of good things happened to me in Oakville, I discovered Reiki and Hypnosis which became two of my passions and the start of a new career. But Oakville never felt like home.
So in 2015, we moved to London and for the first time in my life I was in a place where I felt like I was at home. It’s pretty much perfect except that you can’t get good Chinese food here, especially dim sum. It’s pretty bad when the best Chinese food restaurant (in my opinion) is The Mandarin.
But I guess I’m just spoiled. We used to live within walking distance of Toronto’s Chinatown on Spadina Avenue, home of some of the best Chinese food in Canada. We had an amazing little dim sum restaurant we loved on Kensington Avenue. When we started going there in the 80s it was run by a lovely young couple. By the time we moved away they had a couple of kids who were growing up in the restaurant.
I’m a bit late to the personal blogging party. I’ve done lots of it for my business, but a personal blog, well, I’ve kind of put that off.
So here I am.
What do I want to talk about here? Well, a bit of everything. My dogs (Levi and Stryker), husband (Peter), life, cooking maybe even hypnosis and reiki.
So, if you find this blog, I hope you check back often. I may have something to say that you will enjoy.
Ciao for now!
